WITCHCLIFFE ECOVILLAGE
The Witchcliffe Ecovillage is a pioneering residential development heralded as one of the world’s first fully integrated villages that is self-sufficient in renewable energy, water, and fresh food produce. In March 2024, it proudly received the national “Project of the Year” award from the prestigious Urban Development Institute of Australia
A Living History and a Vision for the Future Situated on the historic lands alongside an organic vineyard and a former beef cattle farm, the Ecovillage respects its rich heritage. It stands on the beautiful Wadandi country, where we honor the legacy and wisdom of the Wadandi and Pibulmen elders, past and present. Our commitment is to listen, learn, and diligently care for this land.
Ongoing Development Currently home to about 150 residents, the Witchcliffe Ecovillage is continuously evolving. More homes are under construction as we expand our community, bringing Mike Hulme's and Michelle Sheridan’s vision - first conceived in 1994 and initiated in partnership with the Perron Group in 2010 - to life. This sustainable settlement has been decades in the making, crafted with meticulous research and unwavering dedication.
Our Birdnests properties are proudly part of this visionary project, offering guests a unique chance to experience sustainable living in harmony with nature.
